--- PURPOSE ---
John "Memorex" is the man behind Beat-Tape Co-Op.
Beat-Tape Co-Op is the platforms that promotes, catalogues and supports pretty much the entire Beat-Tape community since 2008. It's somewhat the backbone of the Beat Culture community.
I was outraged to learn that John couldn't afford a sampler for himself, despite supporting the beatmakers for more than 10 years. The poor man was begging for money on instagram for Christ's sake! A few people have contributed so far, but it's still not enough.
Life gives you what you ask for, not what you deserve, so that's what he did. Now if he doesn't get it, that's not him, that's on us. We, as a community, have to do better than this.
So I've decided to contribute some money as well as an entire beat-tape for sale, for him to keep 100 % of the first [whatever amount remains to get his MPC] of profit generated. Once John gets his MPC (cleared to him), the fundraising will be considered a success.
Help me help John! Be cool and buy yourself some good music to chill to.

The Fundraising was a success! I've transfered the money required for John to acquire his MPC. He got the MPC One gold edition. So I would like to thank you all for contributing and showing how supportive this community is.
--- STORY ---
The beat-tape is filled with references to Sci-Fi type of love/erotic stories. I thought it was cool to have this blend of Love, Sex, Technology, Culture blended into a single Beat-Tape.
--- CONTENT ---
I love Public Domain films. I love that gritty sound and image quality, and I also like to see how people talked and thought back then.
You know what I like even more? Sampling them!
This beat-tape is filled with reference to the Space Age, which feels relevant once again with the current commercial Space Race (SpaceX, Blue Origin, etc.)
--- FOR BEAT GEEKS ONLY ---
To support the cause for the MPC, I produced all the beats on the MPC5000 first, used all 10 outputs to mix it through my Midas analog console, before getting into my computer. Then I arranged, mixed and mastered it in the DAW.
Movie cuts and some additional effects were added using the Roland SP404sx.
--- PHYSICAL FORMATS: VINYLs AND CASSETTEs ---
This is my first time producing physical formats. The idea was floating around for a very long time, but as long as I only had singles and not LP-ready material I wasn't ready to take the risk.
I have created two 17min50 beat-tapes. Since below 18 mins is best for Vinyl cutting, I said to myself, why not try it. This will be my MVP (minimum viable product).
For both Cassettes and Vinyl, the two sides are the following:
- Side A: LoFi Space-Age Beat-Tape

Since many people asked for it, I've decided to produce some CDs.
Those are home made CDs, burned at 4x for best sound quality onto Archival-Grade CD-Rs. The print is black and white onto high quality linen paper.
